Shadow - Unhandled horse
Shadow, my Merens, was an unhandled "wild" horse that I rescued at 18 months old (2017). It took me 1 week to put the halter on him without forcing, this with lots of scratching! Once that was acquired, I started petting him everywhere like Pat Parelli's friendship game. Then I started to encourage him to follow me in freedom since our connection was well established. Followed by lunging work to make him learn (and especially understand) to yield to pressure, as he was starting to pull away.
With Yvan Minguily, we deepened the basics to be able to walk out safely.
Some time after that (2017-2018), I continued the handling, contact, and preparation to do the pre-backing from when he was 3 years old. In August 2018, I got on his back for the first time, accompanied by Zecks Samu who was visiting France.
Shadow confirmed to me with his calm and listening state of mind that the 6 months of work, which I patiently did for this event, had prepared him mentally.
Shadow is just one of many similar professional experiences I have had in my career.
